Soundscapes for young and old listeners: A Family concert for the eyes, ears and heart
The Trio Merak will perform two classical concerts on September 21st, 2025. This extraordinary experience takes young and old listeners into a magical sound world across generations. In the center is a magical sound crystal. With its mysterious power, an ancient curse is to be banished and the world is to be brought back into harmony. The concerts are organized by the Dr. Otto and Margarete Graber Stiftung gGmbH in cooperation with the cultural office of the city of Starnberg. “I became aware of the legend of the sound crystal and the associated Trio Merak through the association Live Music Now in Munich,” says
Managing Director Lisa Horkel. “I was so impressed by the young musicians and their hour long concert that I decided to make this music theater production available for people in the district of Starnberg.”
It is dear to the heart of the foundation that people who might not be able to afford cultural activities can enjoy such a magical listening experience. Therefore, the two concerts are offered free of charge. Everyone, big or small, young or old, is
invited to embark on a journey to the magical sound crystal together with the Trio Merak.

The Legend of the Sound Crystal: An Adventure in Harmonia

Harmonia is in great danger! The magical country, where people can only speak through music, threatens to be silenced forever by the curse of soundlessness. The protector of Harmonia, Count of Merak, calls the brave drummers Cristina and Moritz for help to save the country. Together they embark on a magical journey through Harmonia to find the sound crystal. According to legend, the sound crystal is the origin of every music in Harmonia, and the curse can only be defeated by its power! But the path is full of musical challenges and tricky riddles. Will they find the sound crystal in time and save Harmonia from eternal silence?

The gifted musicians Cristina Lehaci (percussion), Boris Knezevic (piano) and Moritz Knapp (percussion), who form the Trio Merak, lead us through the story. “Merak” is a word that stands for longing, bliss, and pure joy of life in the Balkan region. Here it means more than just a term: it stands for the trio’s vision of uniting tradition and innovation in music. With vibraphone, marimba, piano, and over 40 percussion instruments, they create an extraordinary sound world that brings a breath of fresh air to the classical scene.
