It is important to us to provide help on site. Only if children and young people receive education and training will they be able to shape their future, their lives, and their homeland.
The school, which has been operating in central Ghana since 2013, teaches around 600 children. It consists of a nursery, a kindergarten, an elementary school, and a junior high school.
In Ghana, parents must pay tuition for their children to attend school, which many poor families cannot afford. As a result, their children do not attend school and remain illiterate. The SoriNaTu school is tuition free, which helps those children who would otherwise not receive an education.
Over the last 10 years, two school buildings, a building with a dining and event hall, and a workshop and visitor building have been constructed on a plot of land 5 km outside the village of Nsoatre. The campus now also has its own well and a sports field.
Two school buses transport children from remote areas from various “collection points” to school in the morning and back again in the afternoon. Every child receives a warm lunch at school. The school also has its own IT room with 20 workstations for students, a teacher’s workstation and a projector, as well as a room with seven computer workstations for teachers to prepare lessons.
About the Engagement
The workshop and visitor building were completed in 2024 with the support of the Dr. Otto and Margarete Graber Foundation. In addition, an extension of the 1st floor was made possible. The floors and sanitary facilities on the entire floor were tiled and fully equipped.
